Every week we will be introducing you to a team member from our TVET division. This week we are chatting with Liezl Visagie.
Q: How did you find yourself following a career in Sales/Publishing?
I love people and I love sales! I really wanted to work for Oxford University Press South Africa as they are a mission driven company. I was so impressed by their ‘every child deserves a dictionary’ campaign in 2015. When I saw them advertising for a Sales consultant position I felt like this would be the perfect job for me! It’s been 5 amazing years so far!
Q: Describe your work day – What does your job entail?
Managing many moving parts but most importantly finding innovative ways to delight our customers!
Q: What key traits do you think make a good Sales Consultant?
Someone with a customer focused approach and go-getter and can-do attitude!
Q: What part of your job do you enjoy the most and what would you say is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being in the market and getting feedback from our customers.
I also enjoy working with so many passionate people who are committed to delivering on our mission statement to change lives though education.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in Sales/Publishing?
This would apply to any role in sales. Find a company where you believe in the product and service. When you believe in the offering whole heartedly, your job will be so much easier.
Q: On a personal note, what is your favourite book and why?
Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis. I enjoy autobiographies and this one was just so raw and so inspiring.
